I couldn't stop reading this book until the very end. It was very compelling and interesting. Especially because I, at an early age, also once lived in Chicago's housing authority. I can definitely relate to some topics. This story is based on the life of a young woman who encountered hardship, disappointments, betrayal, and tragedy. A young mother, she found herself living in Chicago's housing projects with her family and struggling. But, she quickly developed close friendships and a support team with the ladies in the community. The friendships, sisterhood, and support towards each other were emphasized with details of each character. I want to applaud the author for being able to pull the reader in enough with details and specifics that will have the reader easily imagine that they were present in the story. This book will definitely have you laughing and some moments sad, possibly in tears. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone, especially those who find interest in Chicago's urban history and "The Projects Era.

The characters were well-developed, and each of them perfectly fit into their roles. I liked the relationship between Jamesetta and the other mothers who lived in the project. Their unity and caring nature were remarkable. I liked how strong Jamesetta was, despite all the challenges she had to go through. I just couldn't tire of reading the story. It was engaging and a page-turner. There was nothing to dislike about the book. I highly recommend it.
